Today was a day of inspiration. The theme, “Inspiring Others” brought a great energy to the gym for our second day of camp.
First the campers welcomed guest speaker Ryan Webb. Being a Seattle Storm Assistant Coach and Player Developmental Coach, he had great insight on the game of basketball to share with the campers.
Next Coach Kerstin lead a workshop about inspiring others. The campers were challenged to put their new knowledge of inspiration and accountability to the test on the court during the day.
Mental Skills Coach, Kadee Gray, lead campers through focused breathing exercise and then they were ready to play some basketball!
The campers worked on two ball dribbling, rebound outlets, shooting footwork off of screens, and played a fun shooting competition.
Our guest speakers before lunch were, Gay Armsden, Cynthia Nash, and Amy Klosterman from AAUW. Amy Klosterman, as well as being a member of AAUW, is a Title IX Attorney. She spoke of how important women empowerment in sports is and the battle for equality that women are still fighting today.
After lunch the campers worked with Mental Skills Coach Kadee Gray focusing on self-talk. Then they dove into more basketball training, working on one-on-one fast break moves to use in the one-on-one competition to follow.
The day ended with TABLA 3 on 3 Conference Play, where the campers left every last bit of energy they had on the court.
Congratulations to our campers of the day, Maite Simon, Bella Mansfield, and Marit Merdich!
Looking forward to another day of learning, leading, and inspiring tomorrow!
