TABLA camp day 4 was another successful, fun filled day! Today the campers started off with a complex obstacle course that went throughout the whole gym and then moved on to some quick full-court transition drills that simulated game-like situations. Next, the campers and JC’s participated in 5 on 5 on 5 which focused on how scoring situations are set up and executed. Before we broke for lunch we played some fun games such as bump, 31, hamburger, and 3-up.
Today was TABLA Community Day, so after lunch the camp was open to the parents, friends and other community members. We want to say thank you to our sponsors that attended our event, Baden, the American Association of University Women (AAUW), and Snap! Raise. A college athlete panel composed of the Junior Counselors kicked off the event where they discussed what it is like to be a college athlete, what the process of getting there was like and their overall thoughts on their experiences at the college level. Following the panel, we had a guest speaker, Claire, from Ladies Elite Athletic Development (LEAD). Thanks also to Shoreline Sports Foundation for joining us for the event!
The day came to lively close as the Junior Counselors and other college basketball players competed in an exhibition game. After this game the campers then got to compete against their junior counselors in another exhibition game. We have had so much fun working with our campers this week and enjoyed watching the progress being made. The future of girls basketball is bright! Tomorrow we head to the Key Arena in Seattle to wrap an awesome week of camp!
