By Charli Elliott, TABLA Junior Counselor
What a week. The first ever TABLA camp has come to a close, and I’m going to go out on a limb here and call it a brilliant success. Today started with a series of three workshops for parents and campers alike. The morning provided an opportunity to learn more about the college experience and transitioning to college, as well as learning to communicate with parents and coaches.
The afternoon gave the campers a bit of a breather as they got to sit back and watch their Junior Counselors play in an exhibition game against some of the area’s college stars, including Jessica Blakeslee, Mikayla Pivec, Savanna Hanson, and many more. But they didn’t have long to rest, because soon it was time for the tournament of champions. After a couple of hard-fought battles, the Golden State Warriors came out on top and secured the victory. In the final wrap up, the girls reflected on the lessons they had learned throughout the camp, then everyone packed up and headed out.
It was awesome to work with these young women, who are the future of basketball and leadership in their communities. Amazing things are in store for each and every one of them.
