“Look, look, look”
“That was Breanna Stewart!”
“She just waved at me.”
“Oh my gosh.”
The girls dissolved into excited giggles as TABLA day two started outside Key Arena. After warming up with some team bonding, we entered the home of the Seattle Storm. Stepping foot on the court filled every one with a sense of awe. The girls didn’t have time to marvel for long though, they were soon hard at work running drills. The time on the Key Arena court was finished off with a game of 5-on-5 where the Seattle Storm took on the Chicago Sky. The Storm snagging a victory in the final seconds.
After lunch, it was time for a selfie scavenger hunt around the Seattle Center. The girls had to work together to navigate the park and get creative with their selfies to win the competition. Then on to a Chalk Talk with Kyle Waters, the senior vice president of ticket sales, who discussed how to step into a leadership role and be a good influence on the team.
Then it was game time! During a pink out evening, we all watched as the real Seattle Storm took on the Chicago Sky. In a tight game that had everyone on the edge of their seats, the Storm lost to the Sky, 94-83.
All in all, a great day of basketball. The young women of TABLA had the chance to not only play on the court of their basketball idols, but watch them in action as well.
