TABLA Camp: Day One

By Charli Elliott, Junior Counselor

The Team Awesome Basketball Leadership Academy (TABLA) camp kicked off today with a team-building exercise called Titanic. The campers worked together to navigate an obstacle course, utilizing skills such as communication, teamwork and critical thinking that began the discussion about leadership and how to be a good leader.

The morning was full of basketball drills; working on the fundamentals, shooting, hustle plays and basketball IQ. In the afternoon, the campers transitioned to a discussion about finding your voice as a leader and how important is it to advocate for women’s sports. They were also introduced to Karlie Storkson, the guest coach for the day, who talked about her community service in Uganda through basketball.

Then the TABLA 3-on-3 tournament commenced. The campers battled in two games of 3-on-3 basketball as everyone vied for a spot in the state tournament, which will be held on Friday. Looking forward to tomorrow, everyone is excited to play on the Key Arena court and watch the Seattle Storm in action.
